The main building of the University of Vienna, also called "Hauptuni," is located in the first district, right on the Universitätsring. It was built by Heinrich Ferstel in 1873. Today, it's not just the university's headquarters, but also a great place for events like conferences and cultural happenings. Its beautiful spaces and history make it special.
Beautiful and functional building, with great architecture. Worth to visit.
I only visited for a couple of minutes while touring the city. Lovely building!
There’s a U-Bahn right next to the university, and right there are lot of shops that sell all sort of stuff. Will make a good break spot in between classes.

Wonderful university! Founded in 1884. It has a beautiful central garden where the students can relax. There is a coffee shop with some tables as well. The corridors are filled with statues or busts of old professors. Definitively worth the visit.
What to say about this place when you enroll in this university, as an Non-EU student, everything works perfectly and idyllic. The big old building says that you feel proud that you came here and you think it will also be accepted.
But when you are longer here, a lot of things are changing, without your knowledge changing the curriculum for foreign students, (also on the language courses that this university accepts!) so that you get some kind of punishment if you happen to come from countries outside the EU, for example,students from the EU pay only € 19 and the pardon and 90 cents with it, and you € 800! And you feel like you are not a man because they are doing this to you! And I do not know what kind of reception these people are doing here and what kind of learning should we get here? A disgrace for a once popular university that now looks more like a political propaganda with the servants in it. Sad..
Said to be the earliest surviving university in the German-speaking world, it was a privilege to visit. The campus is small and really old, but not as impressive as one would expect, moderate I guess.
